What is Malayalam voice typing?

Malayalam voice typing is writing Malayalam by speaking instead of pressing keys: you talk, and speech recognition converts your words into Malayalam script. It removes the two things that make typing മലയാളം slow — learning an unfamiliar keyboard layout, and fixing chillu letters and conjuncts by hand afterwards.

A comfortable speaker produces roughly 120–150 words a minute by voice. Thumb-typing an unfamiliar Malayalam layout runs closer to 15–20. For anything longer than a one-line reply, speaking is the difference between a five-minute job and an hour.

Built for the long stuff, not just one-line replies

Phone keyboards handle a quick message fine. They fall apart the moment you need a page of Malayalam — a letter, a college assignment, a news write-up, meeting notes. Parayoo keeps a real editor around your dictation, so long work stays in one place.

Letters and applications

Dictate a formal Malayalam letter end to end, then tidy the wording in the editor before you export it.

Assignments and notes

Speak a full answer or a set of class notes, then export straight into Word or Google Docs.

Long WhatsApp messages

When a reply runs to paragraphs, speak it here and paste it over rather than fighting the phone keyboard.

Custom vocabulary

Add names, places and terms the recognizer keeps getting wrong, and it will spell them your way from then on.

How to use Malayalam voice typing

  1. 1

    Open Parayoo in your browser

Go to type.parayoo.app on your phone or computer. There is nothing to download and no Malayalam keyboard to install.

  2. 2

Tap the microphone and speak Malayalam

Grant the one-time mic permission and start talking in your own Kerala dialect. Parayoo writes Malayalam script as you speak.

  3. 3

Keep going — it is built for long dictation

Speak for as long as you need. Paragraphs, corrections and custom vocabulary are all handled inside the editor, so a whole letter or assignment is one sitting.

  4. 4

Copy or export the finished Malayalam

Copy the text, or send it straight to WhatsApp, Word, Google Docs or email. The output is standard Unicode Malayalam that renders in any font.

Speak your own dialect

Most speech engines are trained on one flattened "standard" Malayalam, so anyone who does not speak it gets a worse result and ends up over-enunciating. Parayoo uses curated Malayalam phrase hints covering the main regional varieties.

  • Thiruvananthapuramsouthern vowel lengthening and sentence-final particles
  • Kochithe register closest to broadcast Malayalam
  • Thrissurdistinctive intonation and clipped verb endings
  • KozhikodeMalabar vocabulary and Arabic-Malayalam loanwords
  • Kannurnorthern consonant shifts that generic engines mis-hear

Malayalam voice typing — FAQ

Is Malayalam voice typing free?
Yes. Parayoo gives 100 words a day of Malayalam voice typing free, with no signup and no card. If you need more in a day, word packs start at ₹79 for 1,000 voice words — a one-off payment, not a subscription.
How is this different from Google Malayalam voice typing?
Google's Malayalam voice typing lives inside Gboard, so it needs the keyboard installed and set to Malayalam, and it works one message at a time. Parayoo runs in any browser with nothing installed, keeps a full editor around your text so you can dictate a long document in one sitting, and is tuned for specific Kerala dialects rather than a single generic Malayalam model.
Do I need to install a Malayalam keyboard?
No. Parayoo needs no keyboard, no font and no app. It runs in Chrome, Safari or Firefox on any phone or computer. You only grant microphone permission once.
Which Malayalam dialects does it understand?
All the major Kerala dialects — Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur. Parayoo uses curated Malayalam phrase hints and Malayalam-aware post-processing, so you can speak in your own accent instead of flattening it.
Can I use Malayalam voice typing on a laptop or PC?
Yes. Parayoo is a browser tool, so desktop works exactly like mobile — open the page, tap the mic and speak. Most people find a laptop mic is fine for dictation; a headset helps in a noisy room.
Does it write proper Malayalam script with chillu and conjuncts?
Yes. Output is normalised standard Unicode Malayalam, with chillu letters (ൻ, ർ, ൽ, ൾ), conjunct consonants and ZWJ ligatures handled correctly. English brand words like WhatsApp and Google stay in English rather than being transliterated.
Can I add punctuation while speaking?
Yes. Say 'കോമ' for a comma, 'ഫുൾ സ്റ്റോപ്പ്' for a full stop and 'പുതിയ വരി' for a new line. Parayoo also has an AI formatting pass that adds punctuation and paragraph breaks to a finished draft; that runs on word credits from a paid pack.
