How to convert Malayalam audio to text

Getting a better transcript

Recording quality matters more than accent

A clear phone recording in a quiet room transcribes well in any Kerala dialect. Heavy background noise, several people talking over each other, or a distant microphone will hurt the result far more than a strong regional accent does.

Names and technical terms need help

Proper nouns are the usual source of errors — place names, family names, organisation names. Add them to your custom vocabulary once and they come out correctly from then on.

Long files are better split by topic

Beyond the 10MB cap you have to split anyway, and splitting at natural breaks rather than arbitrary points gives you a transcript that is easier to work through afterwards.

How do I convert Malayalam audio to text?
Open Parayoo, choose 'upload a voice note' under the record button, and select your audio file. Parayoo transcribes the Malayalam speech and puts the text in the editor, where you can correct it and export it. If you have not recorded the audio yet, tap the microphone and speak instead.
What audio formats can I upload?
Parayoo reads .opus, .m4a, .mp3, .ogg, .wav and .webm — which covers WhatsApp voice notes on both Android and iOS, iPhone Voice Memos, and the output of most recording apps.
How large a file can I upload?
Up to 10MB per file. For typical compressed voice audio that is roughly 15–20 minutes. Uncompressed .wav reaches the limit much sooner, so convert to .mp3 or .m4a first if you can. Longer recordings should be split and uploaded in parts.
Is the Malayalam audio to text converter free?
100 words per day are free with no signup. Transcription is dense — a minute of speech is roughly 130 words — so any real recording will pass the free daily limit. Word packs start at ₹79 for 1,000 voice words, paid once rather than as a subscription.
Which Malayalam dialects are supported?
All major Kerala dialects — Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kannur. The recognizer uses curated Kerala phrase hints and normalises output to standard Malayalam script with chillu letters, conjuncts and ZWJ handled.
Can it transcribe a recording with several speakers?
It will transcribe the speech, but it does not label who said what — there is no speaker separation. For an interview the result is a continuous transcript you would need to attribute yourself.
Does it translate Malayalam audio into English?
No. Parayoo transcribes Malayalam speech into Malayalam text — the same language, spoken to written. It does not translate between languages.
Is my audio stored?
The audio is processed for transcription and not retained afterwards. Sessions you choose to save, when signed in, are stored in your own account so you can return to the transcript later.
